Air China says it will be raising funds and some of the proceeds will go toward buying 17 domestically developed Comac C919 and ARJ21 regional airliners.
The plan to develop a Chinese-made airliner for high-altitude plateau flight comes just weeks after plans for a hot & high variant of the C919 was revealed.
A graphic at Comac's stand at the Paris Air Show showed no sign of UAC participation in the project any more, but Russia remains part of the program for now.
CEO Dave Calhoun claims Airbus and Comac competitive threats are overplayed, and says OEM will need until at least 2035 to bring a new aircraft to market.
